With next week seeing a return to many of you having to juggle working with home schooling, and students getting more bored by the minute, I thought I would design a FREE online careers session. This is aimed at Year 7 but I think some Years 8s may find it beneficial (especially activity 2) and even Year 6s might enjoy activity 3.
The session is made up of three activities including a wordsearch, craft project and dressing up activity, as well as some online research. I’ve left it very open as to how students present their findings but would love to see some examples of their work! If you feel it is appropriate and safe to do so, please comment on my FaceBook Page @TalentCycle01, either to share their work or comment on how they have found the session.
There are three links students will need:
The wordsearch can be found here: https://thewordsearch.com/puzzle/1032224/career-skills/
The careers websites they will need can be found here:

If you have any queries about anything to do with the session, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. I am offering this as a FREE resource as I thought it might be useful in these challenging times, it is not about a sales pitch. However, I am a business owner operating in challenging times so I can’t not take this opportunity to talk about what I do, for anyone who may be interested. Hard sales is not my style so if you want a no obligation chat about any of my services listed below, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Some of the key things I offer are:
- One-to-one careers guidance for students in Year 7 – 13 (which can be delivered on the phone or via Zoom video conferencing), covering all topics including picking options in Year 8/9, advice about work experience, college and apprenticeship applications etc. I also offer support for students applying to university – both general support and specific advice on writing personal statements and specialist advice for Medics and Oxbridge applicants. My current service also includes supporting Year 11 and Year 13 students, given the current crisis, about what they should do.
- If you are a school looking for support, I can offer one to one guidance and career group work, all delivered online or on the phone. Please contact me for more information. I am registered on the online DBS checking system and have various qualifications including a diploma in Career Coaching and the Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Management.
- I also offer support sessions for career professionals who are looking to make changes in their careers or facing redundancy. This can include a range of talking/planning options through coaching or mentoring and also practical support like CV writing and interview preparation.
If you are interested in any of the above, please contact me via any of my Social Media channels or email me directly at askthetalentcycle@outlook.com.
